Cherry trees, cherry blossom

By March 4, 20082 Comments

Cherry trees or Sakura (Japanese) are ornamental trees that originated in Himalaya and present in India and East Asia.

Despite flower viewing is an old ancient tradition in China I had no idea about it and especially about cherry blossoming.

It begins in Okinawa in January and reaches Kyoto and Tokyo at the end of March or the beginning of April. In my first trip to Japan on late April I almost missed it because cherry flowers last only for a few days before falling.

Cherry trees are not so popular in Spain but while my Father was working Miffo and me were enjoying the nice Cherry trees we have in front of our Hotel.

Climate changes made it blossom at the end of February. We were close to the airport in a placed called Mirasierra, close to the mountains that surround Madrid in its North.

We will send more pictures to Chairoko and Kiiroko.

    Hi it’s very beautiful Sakura.
There are no cherry blossom here in Tokyo now. We forecast when the cherry trees will bloom in the beginning of April. Very nice pictures. We will send “Sakura photo” to you after it will bloom.
