If you’re looking for a fun-filled day trip outside of Tokyo, look no further than Mother Farm in Chiba Prefecture. Founded in 1962 by Hisakichi Maeda, the farm has become a popular destination for families and animal lovers alike. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at what makes Mother Farm so special and the exciting activities you can expect during your visit.

Our visit

Just the day after our arrival from The Netherlands our friends from Cafemiffy picked up from Park Hotel (our favourite hotel, where we spent some of our jet lag playing with Tometaro).

Destination an Onsen in Chiba prefecture, about one hour and a half from Tokyo. I will share that with you in an upcoming post because today I remembered about the nice farm we visited close to our Ryokan and about how many friends we met there.

But let’s concentrate in animals and let me show you a little bit of the fun you can have there (but during winter time it’s very, very cold)

Discovering the Man Behind the Farm

Before we dive into the animal fun, it’s worth mentioning the fascinating history behind Mother Farm. As mentioned earlier, the farm was founded by Hisakichi Maeda, a prominent businessman who was also involved in the construction of Tokyo Tower and the founding of major newspapers. To learn more about Maeda and his impressive legacy, be sure to check out the English version of the farm’s website.

Meeting the Animals

Now, let’s get to the main event – the animals! Mother Farm is home to a variety of furry and feathered friends, including sheep, cows, rabbits, goats, and more. One of the highlights of the farm is the opportunity to interact with the animals. You can pet and feed many of them, and even take a pony ride. It’s the perfect experience for animal lovers of all ages.

Fun for the Whole Family

In addition to the animal encounters, Mother Farm offers a range of other activities and attractions. There’s a playground for the little ones, a flower garden for a scenic stroll, and a mini zoo where you can see even more animals up close. Plus, there are plenty of food options, including the farm’s own dairy products, so you won’t go hungry during your visit.

Planning Your Visit

Mother Farm is open year-round, but keep in mind that it can get quite cold during the winter months. To get there, you can take a train from Tokyo to Kimitsu Station, and then a bus to the farm. The journey takes about an hour and a half, but the beautiful countryside views make it worth it.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a unique and memorable day trip outside of Tokyo, Mother Farm is the perfect choice. With a fascinating history, adorable animals, and a variety of activities, it’s no wonder that so many families and tourists flock to this beloved attraction.
