According to Nike “Tobie Hatfield and Kevin Hoffer, and designed by Bob Mervar, the concept first came to life in 1996” . The first designed the V-Notch and in the era of minimal running they introduced a design who prioritized comfort and fit. They were looking for a T-Shirt fit for the foot.
Nike was working in the Nike Free line of shoes too and soon the presto was removed from the serious running shoes line by consumers and later by Nike.

Hello Kitty and Nike Presto Reunite after initial “failed” drop
The now grail-level collab returns in a “University Blue” colorway alongside a capsule collection with more apparel and merch.
The Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto features Hello Kitty imagery across the mesh upper with red bow detail on the tongue and an additional Hello Kitty motif on the shoe’s heel. Other design details a white TPU cage, embroidered forefoot mini Swoosh, white midsole and red-tipped shoelaces.
We bought a pair for Dad
Dad loves to try new apparel so we decided to buy a pair, but we want him to check the “athletic” potential of the mighty cat presto edition.
This pair won’t be used as pair of home sleepers and will have some running action with the old man and his trainer.
